Justin Bieber’s choice of wardrobe at the recent American Music Awards (AMA) caught the attention of rock music enthusiasts. The Canadian singer graced the red carpet wearing a Nirvana shirt which he paired with tattered jeans. The laid-back look got fans of the rock band talking and criticising Bieber on social media. However, the singer could care less for fashion glam when he got soaked during his wet and wild performance of “Sorry” on stage.

The 21-year old walked the red carpet looking casual in a pair of white shoes and in his Nirvana shirt. Bieber also had his signature forehead locks swept back. However, some netizens were not too keen on the singer sporting a popular rock band’s shirt to the AMAs and shared their opinions on Twitter.

However, Courtney Love didn’t mind at all that Bieber was wearing a shirt dedicated to her dead husband’s rock band. Love, wife of the deceased Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain, also took to her Twitter account to tell the “What Do You Mean” singer that she approves of his red carpet look at the AMAs.

Bieber’s performance of “Sorry,” one of the songs from his new album “Purpose,” was believed to be one of the highlights at the star-studded event. The pop star took to the stage wearing his signature baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt to sing and dance his way through a puddle of water. He ended his performance soaking wet as water from the ceiling came pouring down on him and on the stage. The YouTube video posted by Hollywood Everywhere showed a series of photos taken from Bieber’s wet and wild performance of “Sorry” that reportedly culminated the awards.

According to Mirror UK, Bieber also lip-synched his way through the performance. In the video shared by the site, his voice can still be heard singing “It’s too late to say sorry now” even though he is no longer mouthing the words to his microphone.

This is not the first time that Bieber was criticised for wearing a Nirvana shirt on public. Prior to an appearance on “The Ellen Show,” he was photographed walking on the street wearing another shirt printed with the band’s name. Bieber was also criticised by rock music enthusiasts for wearing a Metallica shirt during a guest appearance on “The Ellen Show.”
