‘Saturday Night Live’ Cast Member Kenan Thompson was fat-shamed by none other than Reverend Al Sharpton. According to the Reverend, the actor needs to lose 50 pounds before he should get a hosting job.

Speaking with TMZ, Sharpton commented on the lack of African-American hosts on late night television, which is a timely subject because David Letterman just retired on Wednesday, officially. Many were not happy that he got replaced by another white man, Stephen Colbert. Chris Rock, for one, commented that there is a serious lack of diversity on late night television when he appeared on Letterman’s final show.

According to Sharpton, indeed there is a need for more diversity on late night television. An African American host would be nice, the Reverend said, citing Rock as well as Eddie Murphy as good choices. He also brought up Kenan Thompson, who is known on his comedic acts on SNL, often imitating Sharpton in particular. It seems though that Sharpton does not think his imitation skills are that great, or enough for him to be a good host, because he needs to “lose weight.’

“Kenan Thompson would be great if he quit imitating me,” Sharpton said. “He needs to lose weight. You can’t look like old Al, doing new Al. Come on, Kenan. Update yourself.” He did not stop there. He even said that viewers would find it hard to sleep after seeing him so heavy on their television screens. He implied that if Kenan would host late night television, then viewers would find themselves craving for some cake and Kool-Aid.

This is not the first time he dissed Kenan for being “too big” to imitate him anymore, since he lost a lot of weight himself. A few months ago, he said someone should replace Kenan to do him because “Kenan is too fat to do Al Sharpton.” Sharpton shared how hard he worked to dropped significant amount of weight by eating healthy and exercising regularly. For the past four years or so, he already shed more than 175 lbs. He made the conscious decision to diet and slim down after his own daughter poked fun of his weight.
