Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres on Sept. 24. The pilot episode airs at 8pm on ABC, two days after the airing of Emmy Awards 2013. September is an epic, busy, and explosive month in U.S. television. Here are some Season 1 teasers and scoop about the Marvel show. Clark Gregg, who plays The Avengers' Agent Phil Coulson, said: "It was really clear that I was dead."

S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, according to Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) in a Marvel Entertainment trailer on YouTube. (Scroll down to watch.) In the same pilot (Episode 1) scene, Level 6 Agent Ward says he knows Agent Coulson died (as seen in "The Avengers") in New York. And then in a fabulous entrance, the beloved Coulson comes to greet him. (Rejoice, Agent Coulson is alive! What would Iron Man say?)

"Welcome to Level 7," says Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode 1 promises action packed scenes from creator, writer and director Joss Whedon. Fans have different speculations on how Agent Coulson survived after the final scenes shown in The Avengers (2012). But reports indicate the answers might not come until the first season finale.

"It was really clear that I was dead. I had a great run," Clark Gregg said, referring to The Avengers' Agent Phil, at the Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour. But Joss Whedon explained to him the TV series will not conflict with "the reality of the movie."

How I Met Your Mother's Robin Sparkles/Scherbatsky joins the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 cast in a recurring capacity - for now. Cobie Smulders reprises the role of Agent Maria Hill - possibly a Level 7 like Agent Coulson. It is possible she'd be promoted to series regular in the show's sophomore season - after the HIMYM series finale.

Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet join Dalton and Gregg in leading the six main cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Avengers superheroes and main cast in the film - from Iron Man to Samuel L. Jackson - are not widely expected on the TV spinoff. But geek fans are hoping there'd be some surprises throughout the show's freshman year.

"I'm not going to go begging or use up favors I need for Avengers 2," Joss Whedon frankly tells Entertainment Weekly in an interview. Still, fans should note that "Thor: The Dark World" is showing in November 2013. It won't be surprising if Chris Hemsworth stops by at the S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ for a cameo or more.

As for the TV's main cast, Ming-Na's Melinda May character is showing a lot of exciting stunts in the sneak preview of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson says, "She's just a pilot." But Agent Ward is not convinced. Two and a half million people have so far seen the Marvel Entertainment trailer. Watch it below.

In promoting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1, executive producer Jeffrey Bell said, "We hope this is big and broad enough for everybody, but that there are specific things that Marvel fans will recognize."
