An artist who had reportedly worked with Rockstar Games back in 2009 and 2010 has released new screenshots of artwork from the mysterious spy game named “Agent.” The release of these screenshots doesn’t indicate any new development related to the project, but the screenshots confirm that Rockstar Games was busy with “Agent.”

Rockstar’s “Agent” was first announced as a PS3 exclusive in 2009. Since then, however, there has been no official announcement about how the game looks like and whether it is still in development or not. Darren Charles Hatton, an artist who claims to be a former employee of Rockstar’s team, has released the art pieces depicting different locations in the game.

The images shared by the artist show a village located at some hilly area. The detailed graphics of the village indicate that it is in a setting similar to the towns of the Middle-Eastern region or maybe an Asian country. According to the artist, the team who worked on “Agent” was assigned to “Grand Theft Auto 5.” As seen in the discussions in a Reddit thread, the former Rockstar employee said that he is not sure if the game project will ever be published.

“Agent” was supposed to be a spy game with an expected release back in 2010. GamesRadar reported that the trademark for “Agent” was renewed by Take-Two in 2013. The developer confirmed that the game is still under development and the statement kept the hope alive.

After the vague announcements, it seems that the Rockstar Games is not likely to return to the “Agent” as the game has not gotten any significant updates more than an unclear announcement about the release. It is speculated that the Rockstar Games would not go for a PS3-exclusive after launching “GTA 4” and “GTA 5.” Rockstar Games brought “Red Dead Redemption” in 2010 and the game was a big success in terms of sales as well. After these titles, Rockstar might not reconsider going back in reviving the “Agent.”
