After reportedly beheading American photojournalist James Wright Foley, ISIL terrorists are threatening to do the same to another American journalist, Steven Sotloff, who appears to have witnessed the decapitation of Foley.

The life of Sotloff would depend on the action to be taken by US President Barack Obama, according to a tweet of Radio Sawa Washington correspondent Zaid Benjamin, the Epoch Times reports. The tweet was the caption of a video released by the ISIL, which reads: "ISIS say the life of Steven Joel Sotloff depends on Obama's next decision.

The tweet included a photo which claims the man on it who has a shaved head and garbed in an orange shirt is Sotloff

The Wire said that Sotloff, who has worked for TIME, the National Interest and Media Line, went missing in Aleppo, Syria on Aug 4, 2013, based on his last tweet on Aug 3. He was being held in Raqqa and his family is aware of what happened but preferred to keep silent about the situation.

On Wednesday, the ISIL reportedly decapitated Foley and released this video.

In response to the video, the White House released a statement attributed to NSC spokesperson Caitlin Hayden that states: :"We have seen a video that purports to be the murder of US citizen James Foley by ISIL. The intelligence community is working as quickly as possible to determine the authenticity. If genuine, we are appalled by the brutal murder of an innocent American journalist and we express our deepest condolence to his family and friends. We will provide more information when it is available.
