AFL Round 22: For the first time in three years, Port Adelaide will play in a Friday for the first time in three years as they face Carlton in what could be a crucial game for the home team to stay in the hunt for the top-4 playoff berths at Adelaide Oval.

What's at Stake?

Port Adelaide (13-7) is coming off a victory over Gold Coast Suns, 56-47, to snap a two-game losing skid. However, consistency has been problem for the Power as of late after winning just three of their last eight games. Trying to stay within range for a top-4 finish, the fifth-place Port Adelaide clearly needs a victory in Round 22 to keep their bid alive.

Carlton (7-13), on the other hand, is already out of the playoff contention, sitting at 13th place in the AFL standing. The Blues dropped three of their last four games, including an 82-76 loss to Geelong Cats in Round 21. Then again, they are out to create problems in the playoff pictures, and there's no better time to do that than in the penultimate round of the regular season.

Matchups

Port Adelaide and Carlton clashed in the opening round of the regular-season, a game resulted to a 120-87 blowout win by the Power at Etihad Stadium last March 16. Justin Westhoff (five goals) and midfielder Robbie Gray (four goals) were the stars of the game, ripping Carlton apart with excellent tactics and gritty plays.

Based on stats, the Power has been the better teams across almost all major categories, including disposals (367-344), contested possessions (144-135), tackles (72-62), and hits out (44-42). The Blues' only advantage was a slight edge in free-kicks with 18 compared to the Power's 17.

Injury Update

Hamish Hartlett with an ankle sprain, Angus Monfries with a hip flexor injury and Hamish Hartlett with an ankle sprain all participated in practice last Friday, giving the power more depth and firepower against the undermanned Carlton, which will likely miss the service of Dale Thomas, David Ellard, Brock McLean and Troy Menzel. Possible replacements for them are Kane Lucas, Patrick Cripps, Matthew Watson and Andrew McInnes.
