After a variety of top-down action games, sidescrolling platformers and a ton of mobile games, “Adventure Time” from Cartoon Network is set to have its first full 3D game for current-gen consoles like the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U, along with PC. Titled “Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations,” the game is being developed by indie game company Little Orbit, along with one of the studio’s sister brands, Vicious Cycle.

Like what the title suggests, “Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations” features the protagonists of the series, Jake the dog and Finn the human, as they interrogate the various inhabitants of Ooo. Players will be able to explore a number of areas found in the popular Cartoon Network show like the Ice Kingdom, the Candy Village and even the kingdom of Lemon Grab.

Not much is known about the upcoming “Adventure Time” game, aside from the fact that it will be the first full 3D title in the series. Siliconera reports that players will partake in solving a couple of “mind bending” puzzles and even some combat, though it’s not sure who or what the players will be facing in this particular adventure.

According to Gamespot, the game will reportedly make the players feel like they are in their own personal episode of “Adventure Time.” Even the story involving Finn and Jake partaking in investigations isn’t completely random, as their father Joshua had also done some investigation in the past, along with some demon hunting, though that’s an entirely different story.

There will apparently be more announcements regarding the game in the weeks and months to come. Seeing as how popular the “Adventure Time” series has been for both children and adults, it appears that the series’ first full 3D video game is kind of a big deal.

This isn’t the first time Little Orbit has worked on a licenced property. They previously worked on “Young Justice: Legacy” for last-gen consoles, which is based on a popular cartoon featuring a number of characters from DC Comics. Their sister studio Vicious Cycle also worked on “Ben 10: Omniverse,” also based on a popular Cartoon Network property that has garnered five different animated series to date.
