Adele’s third album “25” is set for release Friday, Nov. 20, however, it won’t be available to any streaming service platform.

Fans hoping to enjoy the British singer’s new album “25” via streaming service won’t be able to do so, even if they had premium streaming memberships or are paid subscribers. Sources told the New York Times that Adele was personally involved in the decision not to release her latest album to various streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Rhapsody and many others.

The news of Adele’s “25” album being unavailable in streaming sites, specifically Spotify, first surfaced earlier this week. However, the reports then indicated that the award winning singer’s new album may be on limited release to premium Spotify users. Unfortunately, the latest news means it won’t be available for streaming service at all.

According to the New York Times, Spotify did try to convince Adele to change her mind. In a statement issued by the streaming service, Spotify stated, “We love and respect Adele, as do her 24 million fans on Spotify. We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy ‘25’ on Spotify alongside ‘19’ and ‘21’ very soon.”

This won’t be the first time that a musician has decided not to release an album on a streaming service platform. Taylor Swift decided to pull out her 1989 album from Spotify last year. Beyonce’s last album was also exclusively released via iTunes in 2013, before the singer opted to release it for streaming service a year after the album’s launch.

Mark Mulligan, Midia Research’s digital media analyst, told the New York Times that Adele’s decision not to release "25" for streaming service is a “minor issue” for the singer. However, he stated that it is a “major issue for the streaming services.”

Meanwhile, Apple executives told Entertainment Tonight (ET) that Adele’s “Hello,” which is a track from her “25” album, will still be available for streaming on Apple Music. Apple also clarified to ET that Adele’s whole album won’t be released in Apple Music, but “25” will be available for purchase on iTunes.

The British singer’s representatives are yet to comment on the news.
