Pictures can sometimes be misinterpreted and this is what exactly happened to a snapshot of Adele and Chris Brown at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Several social media sites have suggested an argument captured on camera between the two singers but Adele was quick to clarify the issue on Twitter.

The released photograph shows an open-mouthed Adele and a remorseful-looking Chris Brown with his hand stretched forward. Speculations began to surface that the British singer was lashing at Chris Brown for not showing respect during a standing ovation to rival singer Frank Ocean who won the "Best Urban Contemporary Album" at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

The PerezHilton gossip web site described the controversial photograph with the message: "Adele, who was sitting nearby, supposedly went off on Rihanna's boo over his lack of manners! As you can see in the photo above, she's definitely VERY ANIMATED with a timid-looking Breez to say the least!"

On Tuesday, Adele posted a message on Twitter to clarify the confusion on the alleged showdown photograph. "Chris Brown and I were complementing each other in that photo actually!" the 24-year-old British singer wrote on her Twitter account @OfficialAdele.

At the Grammys, Adele appeared to have fun instead of getting involved in a fight. The "Best Pop Solo Performance" winner was even photographed smiling next to Chris Brown as well as Rihanna in the other pictures taken during the awards show.

It has been reported last January that Chris Brown got into a physical altercation with Frank Ocean because of a parking space just outside of the recording studio in West Hollywood, California. According to The Associated Press report, Frank Ocean decided not to press charges against Chris Brown.

"As a child, I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit trite, is wisdom," Ocean posted on his Tumblr account.
