"The Voice" coach Adam Levine has decided to try his hand at racing cars. The multi-talented performer was shocked to learn about actor Patrick Dempsey's acting career and was inspired by the discovery.

Adam spotted Dempsey in an advertisement for Beautyrest Black, a mattress company which is said to provide upholstery for his Porsche 911 GT America which he drives for Dempsey Racing.

At first Adam seemed confused and thought that the actor was just playing dress up and the race car driver outfit was just part of the ad as he tweeted:

I'm pretty sure I just saw a mattress commercial starring Patrick Dempsey dressed like a racecar driver driving a Porsche.

Apart from being an accomplished actor, the "Grey's Anatomy" star actually is a race car driver in real life. He has been racing competitively for several years and treats the sport as his main passion second only to acting. He formed Dempsey Racing Team to compete in the American Le Mans Series. He debuted at the 2009 Le Mans 24 hour race back in 2009. His team is presently racing two Porsche 911 GT America's in the Tudor United Sports Car Series.

"I would like to make that [motorsports] a complete priority and just focus on this full-time. If I could just walk away from acting, I think I could do that very easily, and just focus on the driving, I would love that more than anything else," said Dempsey in an interview with Eurosport before the 2013 Le Mans 24 hour race. After a bit of research and some comments from Twitter followers, Levine was enlightened and tweeted this reaction:

Just found out Patrick Dempsey IS a racecar driver. Awesome! Now the only thing that seems weird is the mattress commercial part.

He then went on to expres his desire to emulate the actor and start racing himself:

I absolutely must become I racecar driver now. It just feels right. — Adam Levine (@adamlevine) May 16, 2014

Of course, being Adam Levine, He caught the eye of TUDOR United SportsCar Championship who tweeted back:

We can help with that! Right @PatrickDempsey? @GoDempseyRacing RT @adamlevine: I must become I racecar driver now. pic.twitter.com/CloqMfZQi5 — TUDOR Championship (@UnitedSportsCar) May 16, 2014

Patrick Dempsey eventually replied and sent Adam this invitation:

Hey @adamlevine my team @GoDempseyRacing and I can show you how to be a racecar driver. Follow us and visit us at the track @UnitedSportsCar — Patrick Dempsey (@PatrickDempsey) May 16, 2014

While Adam is a man of many talents, he probably shouldn't quit his day job for racing but it would certainly be interesting to see if anything comes out of this exchange. A future music video concept perhaps?
