Acer launched the Acer Predator Helios 300 at the company’s global press conference in New York on Friday. The new gaming laptop is available in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch variants, and fuses its matte black chassis with aesthetic red accents for a somewhat edgy look. It comes with Windows 10 and carries mid-range price tags.

The Predator Helios 300 packs an overclockable Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050 Ti GPU integrated with a 7th generation Intel Core i7 7700HQ or i5 7300HQ processor. Backing up that muscle is up to 16 GB of DDR4 memory (also upgradable to 32 GB), a fast SATA solid-state drive and a 1 TB hard disk drive. The new laptop makes it easy to upgrade memory and storage gears with its access compartment door located on the bottom of the unit.

The Acer gaming notebook has one USB 3.0 port that features power-off USB charging, one USB 3.1 Type-C port, one HDMI 2.0 connection and two USB 2.0 ports. It’s able to connect wirelessly using speedy 2x2 802.11ac technology, but for those who favour hard-wired connections, the laptop also includes a Gigabit Ethernet port. The Helios 300 is optimised not only for gaming, but also for all kinds of amusement.

“Designed as an entertainment hub, the Predator Helios 300 notebook line is ideally suited for both gaming and movie watching,” Acer said. “Bright 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch FHD IPS displays provide vibrant, vivid imagery, while Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony deliver immersive audio with crisp, rich acoustics. Skype for Business Certification ensures conversations are clear and lag-free while providing a great Cortana with Voice experience.”

A dual fan system that includes an AeroBlade 3D Fan with ultra-thin metal blades is responsible for keeping the unit running at optimal temperatures and providing smooth gaming experience. Acer’s innovative fan supposedly provides 25 percent increase in air flow versus a generic plastic fan. The Helios laptop also comes with pre-installed PredatorSense software for real time system monitoring and overclocking.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop will be available to purchase in China in June starting at ¥9,999, in North America in July starting at US$1,299 and in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) in August starting at €1,199. Official pricing details and availability in Australia have yet to be revealed so stay connected with International Business Times for updates.
