Acer joins the league of companies producing laptops and desktops with 4K resolution displays. The new Ultra-HD version is an addition to the tech company's line of premium laptops.

As the name imposes, the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition boasts off its 4K resolution display, which is highly recommended for high-resolution serious PC-gaming. Although the V15 and V17 models have been recently available in the market, Acer still decided to launch a newer version of the gaming laptop which now upgrades to the 4K display incorporating a smaller 15.6- inch screen that features a 3840x2160 pixel resolution, Overclockersclub.com reports.

Rivaling Lenovo's Y50 which comes in a very similar system, like the Aspire V both are available in both 1080p and 4K versions. Both models cater to hardcore PC-gamers, equipped with similar Intel Core i7 processors and Nvidia's GeForce 860M graphics card. On the other hand, Toshiba flagships a 15-inch laptop with a 4K display dubbed as the Satellite P50t which uses an AMD Radeon R9 GPU. Unlike the Y50 and the Aspire V, this laptop from Toshiba focuses on video and photo editing, CNET reports.

As mentioned, the Aspire V carries an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, 16GB of DDR3 memory, an Nvidia GTX 860M graphics card, a 256GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. The laptop has Microsoft's Windows 8.1 platform installed.

The latest Nitro has three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, an SD card reader, a headphone out jack and a power connector. Connectivity wise, a dual-antenna 802.11n radio provides wireless connectivity plus a Bluetooth 4.0 module. Also equipped with an HD webcam for video conferences and this laptop is also Skype-certified, TomsHardware.com reports.

The low-point in this laptop is the incompatibility of the 4K display with the Nvidia 860M GPU, which isn't ideal for pushing modern games at 4K resolution. It is more likely that you'll have to drop the graphic settings to lower levels in order for you to enjoy the games with 1920x1080. Apparently, laptops with Nvidia's newer 980M GPU was proven to be more compatible with 4K gaming.

The Aspire V Nitro Black Edition clad in matte black and 16GB of RAM will sell for $1499 in the U.S. through Amazon, the Microsoft Store and other online retailers this November.
