In true Oscars fashion, the 88th Academy Awards red carpet became a glamourous parade of celebrities who are dressed to the nines. Fans eagerly anticipated their favourite stars appear in the most fashionable event in Hollywood.

Black remained to be a favourite hue among some of the female movie personalities, but they took it to another level by incorporating bold textures and embellishments. Kate Winslet, nominated for the Best Actress award for her role in “Steve Jobs,” for example, opted for a plain strapless floor-sweeper, characterised by its extremely shiny fabric. “Scandal” star Kerry Washington, on the other hand, went for a Gladiator look with a black leather bustier and full white skirt.

Speaking of colour, green also displayed prominently among the film stars, including Cate Blanchett, Rachel McAdams, Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan. Others also decided to go easy on the eyes by choosing pastels, such as Heidi Klum and Andra Day.

The Oscars ladies were not also shy in showing off some skin. Strapless gowns, spaghetti-strapped dresses and plunging necklines proudly hit the red carpet, offering sexy chic while remaining classy throughout the evening.

Here are five of the best dressed female celebrities at the 88th Academy Awards.

Priyanka Chopra
Indian actress and former Miss World certainly turned heads at the Oscars red carpet with an exquisite, embellished white gown by Zuhair Murad. The “Quantico” star seemed to have pulled out all the stops with her strapless dress, as this is her first time to attend the prestigious event.

Olivia Wilde
White was also Olivia Wilde’s colour of choice at the Oscars. While fashionistas are torn if Wilde’s Valentino ensemble is a hit or miss, she managed to generate much attention to her pleated long gown because of its daring, deep-V neckline. She paired the gown with a neat and classy braid bun that accentuated her timeless beauty.
