The smartphone arena offers dozens of choices which are packed with outstanding designs, specs and features. But aside from the given factors, consumers also consider the price tag attached with each device.

Based on Forbes’ report, six handsets have been picked because of its performances and most importantly, because of its cost which ranges from the $400 and below. Some are already available for purchase, while the others will be available in the near future.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus

Huawei is known in the market for producing the cheaper devices with impressive amount of quality. The Honor 6 Plus is the perfect example of a powerful device with an affordable price tag.

The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD display with 1920x1080 resolution with pixel density of 401ppi. It is powered by Kirin 925 octa-core processor which includes four ARM Cortex-A7 and four Cortex-A15 processors. It has 3GB of RAM plus 32GB of onboard storage with a microSD storage expandable up to 128GB. The device uses Android KitKat 4.4 as its platform.

CNET reports that the 4G version of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus costs US$400 or AU$500 when converted. It also comes in 3G version which costs $325 (AU$400). The Honor 6 Plus comes in black, white and gold variants.

Xiaomi Mi Note

Xiaomi is another phone manufacturer which is famous for its success in selling affordable Android devices in and out of China. The Chinese company is scheduled to launch the Mi Note, a new high-end smartphone available in two models.

The basic Mi Note version sports a 5.7-inch display with screen resolution of 1080 pixels. Under its hood is a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor supported by 3GB of RAM and either 16 or 64GB of internal storage. It also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 4-megapixel front-facing snapper and 3,000 mAh battery.

The basic Mi Note will be launched on January 27 in China. The unlocked version will cost 2,299 yuan or around US$370.

OnePlus One

The OnePlus One features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 3,100 mAh battery. It also comes with a 13MP camera. The smartphone costs $349.

Archos Diamond 50

The Diamond 50 is produced by Archos, a French tech company known for pioneering high-end digital audio players and portable video players . The latest device that runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat is said to be a mid-range device and comes with an affordable price.

The Diamond 50 sports a 5-inch IPS Full HD Display with 1920x1080 resolution. The device is powered by 1.5GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 with Adreno 405. It is also backed-up with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot expandable for up to 128GB.

The device costs 200 pounds and will be available in black and yellow variants. There is no information on its release date in the United States and in Australia but might cost around US$300 and AU$380, respectively.

Asus Zenfone 2

The 5.5-inch ZenFone 2 is the latest flagship device from the Taiwanese tech powerhouse. It comes with a 5.5-inch full HD IPS panel display, 2.3GHz 64-bit Intel Atom Quad-Core processor and is available in either 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

The 2GB RAM version of the ZenFone 2 will be available in the first quarter of 2015 for US$199. The ZenFone 2 with 4 GB of RAM and with faster Intel Atom chip will be launched later this year.

Microsoft Lumia 830

The smartphone from Microsoft is the only non-Android device on the list. The Windows-powered device costs $350.

The 5-inch Lumia 830 sports a super sensitive touch screen with display resolution of 1280x720. It is equipped with 1200MHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. Its memory includes 16GB of phone storage with a microSD expandable up to 128GB.
