With the Rio Summer Olympics opening on Friday, Aug 5, all eyes in the next few weeks would be on the athletic bodies of sportsmen and women competing in various events. This early, some have stood out, not yet on the medal standing but for being considered the hottest Olympic athletes.

New York Daily News made a list of hot athletes, topped by three female American track and field runners. The queens of the steeplechase who are also blond bombshells are Emma Coburn, Courtney Frerichs and Colleen Quigley, the US entries for the 3,000-metre steeplechase.

On the male side, there is American diver David Boudia, a student at Purdue University, whose six-pack abs are always visible whenever he dives.

Decider's list includes Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov. He was ranked world No 8 in August 2014 when he reached the semifinals of Wimbledon.

When it comes to field hockey, one of the hottest players is Casey Sablowski of Australia. She is a key midfielder of the Hockeyroos, Australia’s women’s national hockey team.

For volleyball, Argentinean player Sebastian Sole stands out. He is a member of the Argentina national team and the Italian club Trentino Volley. Sole was a gold medalist in the 2015 Pan American Games and a silver medalist at the South American Championship.

And from Colombia, the athlete to look out for when it comes to BMX Cycling is Mariana Pajon. She took the gold at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and so far, has 14 world championships. She got her first at age 9.
