Computers, game consoles, smartphone, music players, and many other gadgets are very popular especially among children. Yes, they can be very helpful and entertaining but these gadgets can destroy your child’s life too especially if they’re not used wisely. Here are some of the ways they can ruin your child.

  1. Gadgets promote laziness

Children no longer have time or the drive to help you with household chores especially on weekends. That’s because they have their hands and ears full. As a matter of fact, some of them even skip meals because they don’t want to stop playing their favourite video game.

  1. Children become dependent on them

Gadgets also develop dependency among children. A good example is they’d rather use their phone’s calculator in solving math problems than doing it manually. They no longer go to the library because they have access to dictionaries, encyclopaedias and other references at a touch of their finger.

  1. Lack of social interaction

Many children stay at home and avoid socializing with other people or other kids their age because they have friends online, some they haven’t even met in real life. They are already happy and contented doing stuffs with their gadgets or interacting in online social media sites.

  1. No time for real play

Play is supposed to be a necessity among children because it provides them the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, exercise and be with other kids in the neighbourhood. Gadgets prevented children from getting into some real play like playing tag or getting into sports such as tennis or basketball.

  1. Exposure to bullying and violence

Once a child has a gadget that he or she can use to connect to the internet, it won’t be long before he or she is exposed to all forms of bullying and violence. People upload pictures and videos which are not suited to children and yet they can access them through their gadgets.

Gadgets can destroy your child’s life but to avoid this from happening, you have to set limits. For instance, make use of apps or programs that allow you to monitor how your child uses a gadget. Doing this and other precautionary measures can help your child use gadgets wisely.
