Investing on strong bones is essential because as you grow old your skeletal system also starts to deteriorate. Many people suffer from bone health problems such as osteoporosis and cancer because they failed to provide their body sufficient nutrients like calcium, vitamins and magnesium. The best thing to do is take so of these super foods to strengthen bones while you’re still young.

There’s no surprise here. Milk is definitely the most popular source of calcium which is the foundation of having very strong bones. An eight ounce cup of milk alone provides a person 300 milligrams of calcium. Adults are recommended to have two glasses per day while younger ones are advised to drink more. In case you don’t like its taste, you can still add milk to your favourite shake or juice.

Another popular dairy product loaded with bone strengthening nutrients is cheese. It also contains other nutrients like magnesium and vitamins A, D and B12. Even if you’re lactose intolerant, you can safely eat cheese. You can also add it to your dishes like pasta or in making sandwiches.

Did you know that a cup of yogurt can give you as much as 300 milligrams of calcium too just like with milk? Make sure to add it to your daily diet. Even when you’re lactose intolerant, yogurt won’t affect your digestive system. Another alternative is to buy lactose-free yogurt. Don’t worry because it still contains the same amount of calcium even without the presence of lactose.

Aside from dairy products, sardines are also an excellent source of calcium. Thanks to their little and soft bones, you can have more calcium than a glass of milk by eating three ounces of canned sardines.

Always a must in every diet are leafy greens which are undoubtedly super foods that contain all essential nutrients the body needs including calcium. Bok choy, kale and spinach are just some of these vegetables that you can eat to have stronger bones.
