Shopping for shoes is very easy and fun but for some, it can be very challenging. There are individuals who still commit several shoe shopping mistakes despite the fact that they’ve been doing this for a long time already. Below are some of these common mistakes that one must avoid.

  1. Buying the wrong size

It’s so easy to commit this mistake, but it’s even a lot easier to avoid. Many people often end up buying the wrong size because they failed to try the items on before paying for them. Shoe sizes vary and the best way to avoid buying the wrong pair is by fitting the shoes yourself to determine whether or not it’s the right fit.

  1. Impulse buying

Just because you were dazzled by that pair of stilettos on the display window doesn’t mean you have to buy it. Many shoe shoppers, especially women, have the tendency to buy shoes just because they’re attracted to them. Avoid this mistake by buying only a new pair only when needed.

  1. Not checking the materials

A pair of shoes may look good on you but are they worth it? Be sure you know what you’re paying for. You could be buying a pair of expensive man-made leather shoes that can already buy you a pair of genuine leather ones at the same price. Materials matter a lot because you need shoes that can withstand the wear and tear of your daily routine.

  1. Too brand conscious

Are you one of those people who are always checking the brands of shoes as your primary guideline for buying them? Nobody can tell if you’re wearing signature shoes unless you take them off and show the label to everybody. Avoid this by shopping for pairs that look good on you without overspending.

  1. Buying the wrong kind

Many people also end up buying the right kind of shoes for them. Just because a pair looks good on a friend’s feet doesn’t mean they’re more likely to be suitable for you too. Ask yourself first which kinds of shoes you’re most comfortable. For instance, never go for killer heels when you’re always doing errands at work.

It’s common for people to commit these shoe shopping mistakes but thankfully, you can easily avoid them. Just follow the tips above and you’ll be a smarter shoe shopper the next time you buy a new pair of shoes.
