  1. Starvation or Low Calorie Diet

Many believed that starving yourself can make you lose weight real fast. The truth is it can but it’s not only the fats that will go away but also healthy muscles and tissues. The low calories you take in because of starvation increases your risk of acquiring type 2 diabetes.

  1. Tapeworm diet

People who want to lose weight so much turn to drastic measures such as taking tapeworm cyst pills. The pills allow tapeworms to grow in the intestines and eat all food taken by the dieter. Once the targeted weight is met, the dieter takes anti-parasite pill to get rid of the tapeworm. According to Erin Palinski-Wade, RD, this method is very dangerous and unhealthy with lifelong complications.

Can you imagine having a long tube inserted through your nose down to your stomach for 10 days? This kind of diet prevents you to eat food but instead take in a high protein and low carb formula through the tube. The formula only contains 800 calories per day. However, tube feeding isn’t advisable to dieters and is only used for patients who can’t eat properly.

  1. Stomach stapling

Another popular but unhealthy attempt at losing weight is stomach stapling. This procedure includes putting a pouch in your stomach that can only hold about an ounce of food. This prevents you from eating more. However, this involves surgery and is often given only to those who are suffering from severe obesity.

  1. Master Cleanse diet

Also known as the Lemonade Diet, it consists only of water, cayenne, lemon juice, and maple syrup which allow the body to lose water weight for a short period of time only. Chances are you’ll only regain the weight you lost or even more once you return to solid food.

Stick to healthier diets that can help you lose weight. Avoid those which can only cause harm to your overall health and wellness. Beware of these dangerous weight loss diets and steer clear from them.
