Dirtied books are seen in a flooded house following extreme rainfall in Olbia on Sardinia island November 20, 2013. A cyclone killed 18 people and made hundreds homeless as extreme rainfall flooded eastern parts of the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, Italian authorities said on Tuesday. The government declared a state of emergency after Cyclone Cleopatra dropped 450mm of rain in an hour and a half overnight, causing rivers to burst their banks, sweeping away cars and flooding homes across the island. I've already written about the "10 Must-Read Books with Film Adaptations: Read These First before Watching the Movie Versions" before. But, I found some more books that will have film adaptations. It is suggested that these books must be read first before watching the movies. If anything, the books will make filmgoers get more excited about the upcoming films because they already have a background of the story and the characters. Below is a brief background of the books and the films.

1. "THE WOLF OF WALL STREET" by Jordan Belfort

BOOK:

The book "The Wolf of Wall Street" by Jordan Belfort is the author's memoir about his life as a founder of the Brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont where he used fake stock sales to swindle several investors. He earned a lot of money in a short amount of time, and he spent it just as fast on parties, drugs, sex and travel. It's interesting to read about Belfort from his own point of view. Maybe it can shed a light on his persona and why and how he did the things he had done in the past.

FILM: (Movie release date: Dec. 25, 2013)

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill

The film "The Wolf of Wall Street" is based on the book of the same name and is directed by Martin Scorsese with the screenplay written by Terence Winter. It is a black comedy featuring DiCaprio as Belfort. In the film, Belfort is shown as being uncooperative in the corruption and fraud case on Wall Street.

TRIVIA: This is Scorsese and Dicaprio's 5th film collaboration. The other movies they teamed up for are "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator," "The Departed" and "Shutter Island."

2. "THE MONUMENTS MEN: ALLIED HEROES, NAZI THIEVES AND THE GREATEST TREASURE HUNT IN HISTORY" by Robert M. Edsel

BOOK:

The book "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" by Robert M. Edsel is about a special group of British and American museum curators, directors and art historians who call themselves the "Monuments Men." It specifically focuses on six Monuments Men who risk everything, including their lives just so they can save the world's greatest art from being destroyed by the Nazis.

A review of "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" by Robert M. Edsel can be seen below:

"After World War Two I served as a British member of the "Monuments" section in Germany. Our task, I believe, was truly important - we were restoring to Europe evidence of its own civilization, which the War seemed virtually to have destroyed - and I was lucky to have had a chance to participate. It is excellent that Mr Edsel has now recorded this remarkable episode, and I am grateful to him for devoting so much energy to telling the stories of those involved," said Anne Olivier Bell in the reviews section of Amazon's page about the novel by Edsel.
