Some people are just not made for the gym and will easily get bored with the exercises. Some would rather engage in activities that are entertaining and would help them shed off the extra pounds at the same time.

Here are five unique fitness trends that will awaken your inner adventure-seeker.

1. Kangoo jumping

The approach involves wearing Kangoo boots, which look like ski boots, but feature oblong springs on the soles. Users will naturally bounce because of the springy footwear. There is a fitness instructor that will guide the participants throughout the routine. You will perform step exercises, dance and jump while moving your arms while doing the workout. According to Viewthevibe.com, Kangoo jumping burns twice as many calories and prevents joint problems. See a video on Kangoo jumping here.

2. Bossaball

The sport originated in Spain and involves players moving around on a giant trampoline or inflated court to play a game that seems to combine volleyball and football. The movements are inspired by a dance and will help you sweat a lot within a few minutes of playing. See a video on Bossaball here.

3. Voga

Voga is a mix of yoga and vogueing, the dance trend inspired by the 80s. Voga started in London and combines yoga movements with cardiovascular exercise. Participants get to enjoy upbeat retro dance music while doing the workout. It helps improve flexibility and builds endurance. See a video on Voga here.

4. Parkour

The exercise started in France but has since become popular after some of its practitioners were casted in movies, TV shows and advertisements throughout the world. According to Weather.com, the approach involves moving through obstacles and jumping across and climbing over benches, cars and trees. The exercise is a great way to develop strength, build endurance, increase stamina and tone all the muscles of the body. See a clip on Parkour here.

5. Poi dancing

The approach came from New Zealand but is now practiced around the world, especially in parks and beaches. The work out involves twirling and spinning sticks or slings while doing foot and arm movements in a synchronized manner. Advanced dancers light up the ends of the slings with balls of flame and perform a variety of stunts. It is a great form of cardiovascular exercise. See Poi Dancing moves here.
