Google's next Android edition, known for now as Android 5.0 or L, appears to have already reached the rollout stage, indicating too that the Nexus 9 release date is happening soon enough.

Android L launch

The latest reports point to a time range between November 1 and 3. According to Android Geek, existing Nexus devices - the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 - will likely start chewing in Android L on the first day of the following month.

That will set off a chain of events that will see the Google Play Edition devices immediately getting the KitKat replacement, added the same report. Next in line are some of the flagship Android devices from Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony.

But the most exciting bit of the latest Android development is the high likelihood that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will arrive at the same time after November 1. Rumours have it that the two devices are set for unwrapping during Google's announced event on October 15.

$400 Nexus 9 by HTC

The Nexus 9 tablet, for one, is said to become commercially available on November 3, Bright Side of News said in a report.

Put together by HTC, the supposed 8.9-inch iPad rival will sell at around $400, the blog report added. The tag price will undercut the presumed $500 starting for the iPad Air 2 and will match that of the third-generation iPad Mini, which Apple will likely place on store shelves bearing a $400 asking price for the basic model.

While the Bright Side report is far from confirmed, Nexus watchers have noted of the similar pattern from Google. In the latter part of October last year, the KitKat-powered Nexus 5 silently debuted on the Play Store and Google doing the same thing this year makes sense.

However, it will be a two-punch effort this time as the consensus builds on a simultaneous touchdown for the Nexus 6 and 9. In fact, the devices would probably see the light of the day on October 15, which in previous reports is a day designed to exclusively take the wrap off of the Nexus 9.

And on that same day, Google will officially uncloak the Android L and reveal the boosted power and revamped interface of the operating system that will fire up the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 on their same-day release day that will follow shortly.
