Ahead of the rumoured iPhone 6 release date on September 2014, the killer specs and features for the device are gradually firming up - providing a clear picture of what Apple fans will take home on D-Day.

It is virtually confirmed that for this year, the next iPhone will be served up in two builds - the 4.7-inch version that is the direct replacement of the 4-inch iPhone 5S and the 5.5-inch model that this early generates excitement among die-hard and non-Apple fans.

As the first Apple phablet, many expect that the bigger iPhone 6 is the better cut following its rollout and this will be in terms of mobile device performance and sales. Below are the four reasons why the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is the better choice.

Giant screen panel

If rumours and forecasts from numerous analysts will prove correct, a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will dwarf over the new Apple standard screen of 4.7-inch and the consensus is - it easily will be a consumer magnet.

The reasons are obvious - more viewing and navigation space, therefore more delightful to use be it browsing the Web, composing a messaging or just plain killing time by playing games, listening to music, watching video clips or full-length movies and reading e-books.

Market watchers are predicting that phablets will eventually chip away sizeable turfs from regular smartphones and compact tablets in the next few years, which likely explains the phablet intro by Apple this year.

Optical image stabilisation

Optical image stabilisation is whispered in recent months as part of the killer camera upgrades that will be packed with the 2014 iPhones. This week, OIS is reportedly confirmed for the handset's launch but it will be exclusive for the iPhone 6 phablet.

The move, according to Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities is justified by the bigger iPhone's higher price tag. The analyst added that with its shooter a bit of specced up, the iPhone 6 will have a definite distinction from that of the 4.7-inch edition.

128GB internal memory

When Apple rolled out the 128GB iPad 4 last, fans quickly assumed that it is only a matter of time before the same generous storage space will be afforded to a future iPhone. It appears now that that build will be the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, which according to MacRumors is a feature that is reserved for the bigger iPhone.

Having a practically unlimited space in a smartphone has been long wished for by millions of Apple fans so a 128GB variant becoming available for them will surely draw more buys for the phablet-size iPhone 6.

Value for money

Reports are persistent that Apple will sell the bigger iPhone 6 for a $100 premium. That means if the 4.7-inch iPhone will retain the normal pricing with contract of $200, the bigger brother will have a sticker price of $300. As the configuration goes up, the same premium treatment applies.

Regardless, it is likely that more consumers will flock to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 as the mere step of another hundred bucks will surely deliver a better value for money - bannered by the exclusive specs and features discussed above.

The iPhone 6 release date is reportedly scheduled on September 19 2014 that numerous reports said will be a simultaneous event designed to push out the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch makes to the market.
