As Apple reportedly scrapped the iPhone 6S in favour of the iPhone 7 release date this 2015, killer specs and features of the flagship device are beginning to shape up. The major redesign is seen to deliver four feature upgrades coming right out of the box.

From the hints and leaks that came out so far, Apple watchers have pieced together what were described as the leapfrog features of the next iPhone. Four of them are briefly discussed below:

Bye-bye Home key

Well-connected Apple insider Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities recently shared his latest reading that the iPhones 6S is a skip this 2015 and in its stead, the iPhone 7 will be unpacked by the tech giant. What prompted the welcome change, Kuo said, is a rework of the device blueprint precisely to include Force Touch sensor as new feature of the next iPhone.

One likely impact of Force Touch in the iPhone is making the smartphone screen smarter than ever. The feature, Kuo said, will measure the amount of pressure that comes with a tap or swipe that it could eliminate one iconic iPhone element – the Home button.

The next-generation iPhone display, according to ComputerWorld, “would be capable of sensing a Force Touch and treating this like a stab at the Home button.” In ditching the Home key, Apple will finally deliver an iPhone that will boast of thin bezels surrounding a supersized display panel, the report added.

Best build and design ever

There have been reports that Apple plans to encase the next iPhone in a new material called 7000 Series aluminium alloy. The result is a 60 per cent tougher casing for the iPhone 7 but ComputerWorld noted that when paired with sapphire glass cover then the device really promises a more durable build.

On the metal back part, the same report floated the possibility of zirconia beads blasting. The result would be that Apple will soon sell not only the most robust iPhone ever but also with the most gorgeous finish ever.

Reversible connector

Going by Kuo’s claims that the iPhone 7 will represent a huge jump for Apple, then one key feature recently introduced with the new MacBook could become part of the deal – USB-C. The reversible connector will certainly complement the Lightning port and cable combo that Apple had provided before, PC Advisor said in a report.

Professional-grade camera

And to top the killer features mentioned above is a very impressive rear shooter on the iPhone that will fairly match the capabilities of professional-grade cameras out there. Further improved optical image stabilisation or OIS is already given but the real lure for Apple fans is the speculated inclusion of dual-lens with the iPhone 7 camera system, ValueWalk.com said.

With the feature on board, iPhone users will produce images and clips with DSLR-quality. Also likely part of the deal is a unique periscope design that Value Walk said comes with mirror tilt actuation for the end purpose of enhancing image quality.

So while the debate rages on if 2015 is an iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 release date, the one sure thing is a replacement for the iPhone 6 is coming in the last few months of the year. The actual unboxing is set between September and October.
