Android 5.0 Lollipop
Android 5.0 releases SDK Google

Just in time for the 2014 holiday shopping season, Google's latest Android 5.0 Lollipop will soon power up key flagships that buyers can therefore include on their to-buy list this Christmas.

LG G3

It looks like LG will beat the other Android flagships in the race to get Lollipop as the company's LG G3 is reported to start chewing in 5.0 real quick. The update process will actually commence this week and according to Android Central, G3 users located in Poland are the first to receive the fresh Google sweets.

In a statement, LG said that the gradual Lollipop rollout for its latest hero handset will first hit the key markets and other destinations in the near future. Vague the schedule may be, the realistic window time for the actual start of 5.0 deployment for the G3 is within the next 30 days.

As Android Central noted on its report, LG's mention of near future "doesn't mean it's coming right away to G3 users around the world."

But as if to prove that Lollipop for the G3 is ready to rock and roll anytime, a separate report by Android Central pointed to a leaked preview of the likely new Android package that LG fans can expect.

Save for the signature LG G3 apps and functions, Lollipop 5.0 on the handset is very close to pure Android render, the report said.

Galaxy S4 and S5

SamMobile has initially suggested that Samsung's 2014 flagships - the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 - will transition from KitKat to Lollipop real soon. A clip of the GS5 flashing its own Lollipop flavour was even showcased to prove the point that Samsung is truly ramping up efforts to deliver the best and latest Android build to Sammy fans.

But it appeared too that the South Korean tech giant is not letting down millions of Galaxy S4 as another clip from SamMobile showed off the 2014 hero device being pretty and elegant in Lollipop with touches of TouchWiz skin.

This development only suggests that along with the GS5 and Note 4, the GS4 will be among the Sammy device headliners to show off Android 5.0 real soon.

Nexus 5

The Nexus 5 is only expected as one of the first Androids to jump to the latest form and the latest word from Google is the Lollipop upgrade for the LG-built device is happening in a matter of weeks.

But for the impatient, the unofficial build is already thanks to XDA Developers, according to 9to5Google. The software is usable but installing it is fraught with risks so the same report is reminding Nexus 5 owners to proceed with caution.

Or better yet, wait out for the official Android 5.0 Lollipop that Nexus 5 owners are confirmed to get anyway.
