South Africa has a new international child celebrity. DJ Arch Jr. aka Oratilwe Hlongwan, a three year old, won “South Africa’s Got Talent 2015.”

Videos of the child prodigy is circulating online following his impressive stint in the competition. DJ Arch bested an impressive crew of Street Stylers and classical singer / ventriloquist Isabella Jane and took home the grand prize R 500,000 equivalent to AU$49,862.

DJ Arch Jr. got his start when his father started to upload YouTube videos manning a turntable since he was 2-years-old.

According to Fact magazine, the youngest winner in the series’ history has been carried by his father Glenn, on every episode. His turntable is connected to a laptop set-up with a countdown on the screen to remind him when to start the show.

The child had been given a ‘golden buzzer’ by judge DJ Fresh to advance to the semi-finals of the Johannesburg-based competition during his audition. The win has not sunk in for little DJ Arch yet and the boy thinks he just won another ‘golden buzzer,’ his father said.

In an interview with ETV, DJ Arch’s father said he is optimistic about the child’s newly found celebrity status. “I don’t think that winning will affect his life in any negative way. He has great parents and we are here to guide him,” he said.

The story of the three-year old toddler knows no bounds and transcends the message to other groups vying for social issues as well. Economic Free Fighters spokesperson Mbuyuseni Quintin Ndlozi calls the win, “truly that of talent which always trumps age and human-inspired development.”
