Cedar Hill police filed sexual assault charges on Sunday against 27-year-old Ryan Otey who was caught naked on Thursday by a co-worker while assaulting a woman old enough to be his grandmother. The victim is 76 years old and has limited mental faculties.

Otey works at the Crescent Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was charged with sexual assault of an elderly/disabled person and held on $100,000 bond at Dallas County Jail, reports New York Daily News.

The suspect gave police a statement that provided details of his offence at Crescent Place. Cops are probing if he has also sexually assaulted other senior residents of the facility.

The victim's kin has been informed of what happened. However, they have not indicated if she will remain in the facility or if they will transfer her elsewhere.

Otey had a shoplifting charge in 2014. He was caught removing price tags from a shirt in Walmart and did not scan the items, reports Inquistr.

Crescent, according to a 2014 health inspection report, received five stars for nursing quality. However, the facility also had four deficiencies in the areas of failure to provide care for each resident which maintains their respect and dignity; with choices of appropriate activities; choice of activities, schedules and health care plans; and to keep medication errors to below five percent.

The National Center on Elder Abuse identifies the insufficient training in detecting abuse, such as what happened in Crescent, as the main reason for the suffering of seniors living in these facilities. It said nursing home remain a headache in the US.
