World No. 1 Rafael Nadal will begin his 2018 Australian Open campaign on Monday evening in a first-round clash against Dominican Victor Estrella Burgos. It will be the first-ever clash between Nadal and the 37-year-old Burgos.

Nadal's sensational 2017 was halted by injury woes in recent months. After the Spaniard withdrew from the Paris Masters, Nitto ATP Finals, Abu Dhabi exhibition and Brisbane International, there were serious doubts about Nadal's availability for the Australian Open. However, the Spaniard landed in Melbourne at the start of 2018 and began his preparations for the first Grand Slam of the new season.

A year ago, Nadal returned to Melbourne Park after missing most of 2016 with a chronic wrist injury. After losing to Roger Federer in a classic five-set final, Nadal proceeded to capture six titles in 2017 including Roland Garros, US Open, Madrid Masters, Monte-Carlo Masters, China Open and Barcelona Open. At 31, Nadal became the oldest player in ATP Rankings history to finish the season as World No. 1.

And now, Nadal plans to start from scratch. "(2017 is over) Everyone starts from zero. I start from zero again. I hope to be healthy and competitive, and (the) most important thing ... I hope to enjoy tennis one more year," Nadal said ahead of the 2018 Australian Open, via The Sydney Morning Herald.

With former Australian Open winners Novak Djokovic (elbow) and Stan Wawrinka (knee) returning from injuries, Nadal and Federer are once again favourites to prevail at Melbourne Park. There won't be Andy Murray to deal with, either, the Scot pulled out of the event after undergoing a hip surgery.

Nadal sympathised with Murray before mentioning Belgium's David Goffin as a possible threat to the title. "I am not the one to take decisions but when something is happening too often (there is) something we are not doing well. If (Goffin) he is fresh, and I believe that he is, he's very complete player. He can fight for everything. He is a big, talented player. He has experience already playing big matches. And why not?"

The 2018 Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the new season, got underway on Monday, Jan. 15. Roger Federer, the reigning champion, will kick-start his campaign against Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene in the Round of 128 on Tuesday. 2018 Australian Open live streaming, Rafael Nadal vs Victor Estrella Burgos live streaming, Rafael Nadal live streaming and tennis live streaming info follows.
