The 2017 PGA Championship, the final major of the year, gets underway Thursday at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, and all eyes will be on Jordan Spieth. The 24-year-old American has the opportunity to become the youngest golfer to complete a career grand slam, just two weeks after his sensational victory at the British Open.

With the victory at Royal Birkdale, Spieth joined the iconic Jack Nicklaus as only the second golfer to prevail at three of the sport's four majors before the age of 24. If Spieth claims the Wanamaker Trophy, he would beat Tiger Woods to that elusive feat by a span of eight months. Woods, at the age of 24 years and 8 months, won the 2000 Open Championship to complete a career grand slam. Spieth turned 24 a few weeks back.

On the verge of history, Spieth doesn't intend to carry any additional pressure into the 99th edition of the coveted US PGA title. “I don’t need to be the youngest. I don’t feel any added pressure because of that. I really don’t feel any added pressure whatsoever. If it happens, great, if it doesn’t then my next, probably last, lifelong goal as a professional golfer would be to win the career grand slam.”

Despite winning three PGA titles this year, the World No. 2 Spieth is not the odds-on favourite to triumph over the weekend. According to OddsShark, Rory McIlroy, a former two-time PGA Championship winner, is the +700 favourite while Spieth is a close second choice at +850. Dustin Johnson (+1100), Hideki Matsuyama (+1200) and Rickie Fowler (+1600) round off the top-5.

McIlroy, after victories in 2012 and 2014, would join Nicklaus (5), Walter Hagen (5) and Woods (4) in the all-time list of US PGA victors. “It would be nice to make that a hat trick I play well at Quail Hollow. I love the golf course. They have made a few changes but I’ll have some really good vibes.”

Jordan Spieth is trying to join the exclusive club of Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen -- the only five golfers to win all four majors. 2017 PGA Championship live streaming, US PGA live streaming and golf live streaming info follows.
