Tennis’ big four - Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have booked their spots in the quarterfinals of the 2015 French Open. Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray all triumphed in their fourth round matches to reach the last eight at Roland Garros.

World No. 1 Djokovic has clinched his spot in the quarterfinals following his straight-sets victory over local favourite Richard Gasquet 6-1 6-2 6-3 on Monday. Djokovic will face defending champion Nadal, who defeated American Jack Sock 6-3 6-1 7-5 6-2 on the same day. It will be a repeat of last year’s final at Roland Garros, which saw the Mallorca native claiming his ninth French Open title.

Djokovic said that Nadal will be the biggest challenge he will have on clay citing that Nadal had only lost once in the said tournament. At the French Open, Djokovic won 26 straight matches while Nadal won 39. Nadal’s win-loss record at the French Open is 70-1.

Nadal was quoted saying in an article by France24 that he will have to play his best tennis against Djokovic. “He’s the world number one and is having a great season,” Nadal said. “It’ll be a complicated match.” Djokovic has won five titles this season. Nadal, on the other hand, won only one.

In other matches, Federer has clinched his 11th French Open quarterfinal appearance after beating Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-1. Federer will play against his Davis Cup teammate and compatriot Stan Wawrinka, who is seeking to win a second grand slam trophy. Wawrinka defeated Gilles Simon 6-1 6-4 6-2 to reach the last eight.

Third seed Murray also reached the quarterfinals following his victory against Jeremy Chardy 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-2. Murray, who will be playing for his fifth French Open quarterfinals, dispatched Chardy in two hours and 51 minutes. Murray was a semi-finalist at Roland Garros twice. He will play against 2013 runner-up David Ferrer, who beat defending US Open champion Maric Cilic 6-2 6-2 6-4 to advance in the next round.
