Many celebrities failed to impress on the red carpet of the 2015 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles on Sunday.

Model Heidi Klum aimed to stand out, but her eye-catching yellow Versace dress was too garish for the eyes. The dress featured a fringed long sleeve on her right arm and a sheer mesh mullet hem, which unfortunately the 42-year-old could not pull off, E Online reported.

“Orange Is The New Black” actress Laura Prepon wore a custom Christian Siriano silk-and-chiffon gown with dramatic mermaid train and gold collar but, the dress with its loud colour did not hit the right notes. Prepon paired her look with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

OITNB star Danielle Brooks twirled around in her colourful gown while posing for pictures on the red carpet but, the pops of blue, yellow and even her diamond jewellery did not help her much with winning the sartorial department.

The “Parks and Recreation” star Retta was pretty in a pink dress, accented by a lace bodice and a petal-style hemline but, apart from the colour, nothing was great about the number. “Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross wore a tiered pink Zac Posen dress. The strapless number with its frills was a way too girlish for the red carpet.

Kathryn Hahn opted for a Vivienne Westwood strapless dress paired with Eva Fehren jewels, but failed to impress. Actress and musician Joanna Newsom’s

Delpozo dress was the most bizarre of the night. It looked like a mini dress worn over a pleated full length skirt.

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Oscar De La Renta gown also failed to make the best dressed list with its overwhelming purple puffball skirt. Dascha Polanco also did not make the cut in the sheer black and yellow number.

OITNB’s Taryn Manning wore a Rubin Singer dress that featured a cut-out back, but it was not red carpet worthy. The actress finished her look in sandals by Jerome C. Rousseau and Stephen Webster jewels.
