The 43rd American Music Awards (AMAs) which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, turned out to be a major event with several entertainment industry bigwigs in attendance. Some of the performers at the AMAs 2015 include Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani, One Direction and Celine Dion.

Lopez served as the host of the AMAs 2015, where Taylor Swift and One Direction ruled the list of winners. Swift, who wasn’t at the event, won three awards, including Favorite Pop/Rock Album for “1989,” Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Song of the Year for “Blank Space.”

One of the key highlights of the event was Jared Leto’s touching speech about the terror attacks in Paris. He recalled the time when his band performed at the Bataclan music hall seven months ago.

"Tonight we honour the victims of the unimaginable violence that has taken place in Paris and around the world. France matters. Russia matters. Syria matters. Mali matters. The Middle East matters. The United States matters. The entire world matters and peace is possible," Leto said in his AMAs 2015 speech, which was posted on YouTube by Martian3D.

Celine Dion also paid a moving tribute to Paris and performed “ Hymne A L’Amour ” by Edith Piaf.

The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande gave outstanding performances at the AMAs. The audience was in for a shock when Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth made out live on stage after their performance of their collaboration hit "Marvin Gaye." Entertainment Online (ET) reports that Puth and Trainor were also surprised at themselves for kissing like that on live TV. Puth was reportedly uneasy at first, because Trainor is a good friend, but they really wanted make a huge impact with their performance at the AMAs, so they went with it. Meghan even posted a photo of their kiss on her Instagram account.

Meanwhile, JLo wowed everyone with her dance performance featuring a mashup of her song “Waiting For Tonight” and the biggest hits of 2015, including Nikki Minaj’s “Anaconda,” “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”

As for the red carpet looks of the celebrities at the AMAs, Selena Gomez made heads turn in a red Givenchy dress. She teamed it up with Jimmy Choo shoes and Tacori earrings, according to Just Jared. Gomez also performed her hit track "Same Old Love."

Victoria's Secret model Gigi Hadid, 20, debuted her temporary bob hairdo at the red carpet. Her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, told Cosmopolitan that Hadid wore a wig at the awards night.

Carrie Underwood set the stage on fire with her performance of "Heartbeat.” Coldplay was also on hand at the event.

Plus, Alicia Silverstone surprised the AMA viewers when she appeared onstage with her “Clueless” co-star Jeremy Sisto to introduce Gwen Stefani’s performance of “Used To Love You.” Stefani’s song “Just A Girl,” with her No Doubt band, can be heard in the first scene of Silverstone and Sisto’s 1995 film.

Aside from Swift and One Direction, the other winners at the AMAs were Sam Hunt (New Artist of the Year), Luke Bryan (Favorite Country Male Artist) and Ed Sheeran ( Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist). Click here to see the full list of the winners at the 2015 American Music Awards.
