Beyonce's powerful performance wrapped-up the Annual MTV Music Awards on Sunday night. After the performance, her rapper husband Jay and her daughter Blue Ivy joined her onstage, as she accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award. Controversial singer Miley Cyrus won the top honours at this year's VMA, as she bagged the 2014 MTV VMA Video of the Year for her controversial song "Wrecking Ball."

Leading the pack of nominees, with a total of eight nominations, Queen Bey took home three awards, including the Best Collaboration for her hit single "Drunk in Love," featuring Jay Z; Best Cinematography for "Pretty Hurts," with Director of Photography Darren Lew and Jackson Hunt; and Best Video with a Social Message for "Pretty Hurts."

Recently, the online media has been abuzz with rumours that Beyonce and Jay Z are dealing with marriage troubles. However on Sunday night, they looked like a picture perfect, happy family, especially when the husband and the daughter appeared on stage to celebrate the diva's victory, as she accepted the Video Vanguard Award. Beyonce was teary-eyed while thanking her fans and family. Jay Z planted a kiss on his wife's lips in front of the cheering crowd while holding Blue Ivy in his arms.

Unlike last year's controversial VMA performance with Robin Thicke, this year Miley Cyrus was doing her bit for the society. She took the back seat and let her date, a young man named Jesse, accept her award. Miley was trying to raise awareness about runaways and homeless youth. Also, Miley took to Instagram to post a photo of hers with the young man.

"Thank y'all, my name is Jesse and I accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these people," Jesse told the audience during his touching speech. "I've survived in shelters all over. ...Though I may have been invisible to you in the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight."

In her attempt to make a rocking appearance on stage, Nicki Minaj suffered a wardrobe malfunction when she changed her costume in the middle of the performance. The "Bang Bang" singer gave a subdued performance, when she performed with Ariana Grande and Jessie J, as she struggled to keep her costume together.
