Black was the order of the day for singer Lorde at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night. The "Royals" singer not only wore a black dress on the red carpet but also wore the same colored dress during her performance on stage too. Nevertheless the colour black looks like a lucky colour for the "Royals" singer as she also took home two awards at the Awards night, including the award for Top Artist at the Billboard.

Lorde won two gongs at the award night. The 17-year-old beat artists like Bastille, Capital Cities, Ariana Grande and Passenger to take home the award for Top New Artist. Her debut song "Royals" also won the award for Top Rock Song defeating songs from Passenger, Capital Cities and two from Imagine Dragons!

"I really don't want to screw it up," Lorde said in her acceptance speech at the Award night, according to tvnz.co.nz.

"I'm thankful for the dialogue around my work and myself and I'm thankful to be around such talented artists. I'm so grateful for everything I have learnt...thank you so much," she added.

The New Zealander however lost the award of Top Female artist to "Dark Horse" singer Katy Perry.

Lorde also performed new song "Tennis Court" for the first time to a live audience. The teenager from New Zealand wore a black shirt and black pants and accessorized it with a crisp black hat as she belted out the latest track. This time the singer also decided to keep her unruly locks away from her face in a slick combed back look.

For her red carpet arrivals, Lorde wore a Miley Cyrus like jacket with furry arms. The only difference between Miley and Lorde's outfit is that Miley wore a see through white outfit with nipple covers at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival while Lorde was all covered up from head to toe even in the Las Vegas heat! Lorde also gave an excellent performance at the Billboard Music Awards 2014 on her new song "Tennis Court," which left the audience asking for more. Check out her powerful performance below.
