The 2014 Adelaide Festival Program lineup was announced recently and it features Isabella Rossellini's monologue "Green Porno." It will run from Feb. 28, 2014 up to March 16, 2014. It will have 50 events, including 29 premieres and Australian exclusives.

The festival is jam-packed with several activities including Artists' Week, Adelaide Writers' Week and Adelaide International visual art events. An exclusive John Zorn six-concert series will also be part of the event.

The 2014 Adelaide Festival will be divided into 7 programs such as the Theatre program, Film program, Music program, Dance program, Visual Arts program, Free and Family Festival Club program and the Adelaide Writers' Week program.

1. THEATRE Program

  • "Green Porno" (US/Italy) - a comedy show starring Isabella Rossellini. It is about the sex life of insects and animals. (March 15-16, Her Majesty's Theatre)
  • "An Iliad" (US) - starring Denis O'Hare of "True Blood" TV show (March 4-8, Dunstan Playhouse)

  • "Roman Tragedies" (Netherlands) - combination of Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra, Coriolanus and Julius Caesar (February 28 to March 2, Festival Theatre)

  • "Needles and Opium (Canada) - from theatre maker Robert Lepage (March 13-16, Dunstan Playhouse)

  • "The Shadow King" (Australia) - reinterpretation of Shakespeare's King Lear (March 5-8, Her Majesty's Theatre)

  • "The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean" (Scotland) - detective adventure which examines the peculiar contents of an old scrapbook (March 5-9, Odeon Theatre)

  • "Windmill Theatre Trilogy" (SA) - trilogy of "Girl Asleep," "School Dance" and "Fugitive" (Feb. 28 to March 16, Space Theatre)

  • "Fight Night" (Belgium/SA) - politics becomes a game where audiences vote for contenders fighting inside a boxing ring (March 13-16, Queen's Theatre)

  • "Kiss of the Chicken King" (Ireland) - mix of stand-up comedy and experimental theatre (March 1-4, Queen's Theatre)

  • "BigMouth" (Belgium) - a combination of the most memorable speeches in history (Feb. 27 to March 3, Queen's Theatre)

  • "This Filthy World Vol. 2" (US) - comic monologue from filmmaker John Waters (March 6, Elder Hall)

  • "The Seagull" (SA) - starring Xavier Samuel of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," "Drift" and "Anonymous" (Feb. 21 to March 16, Scenic Workshop)

2. FILM Program

  • DocWeek - celebration of international documentary filmmaking, including conversation sessions, master classes and parties (March 4-9, Various venues)
  • River of Fundament (US) - 5 hour film, divided into 7 parts, based on "Ancient Evenings" novel by Norman Mailer (March 2-3, Capri Theatre)

3. MUSIC Program

  • Free Opening Night Party - featuring Charles Bradley, Kid Creole and The Coconuts (February 28, Elder Park)
  • Kelemen Quartet (Hungary) - (March 3, Adelaide Town Hall)
  • Late Night in the Cathedral - featuring the Adelaide Chamber Singers (ACS) (March 3 and 5, St. Peter's Cathedral)
  • Unsound Adelaide - featuring Nurse With Wound, Morton Subotnick and The Haxan Cloak (March 6-8, Town Hall/Queen's Theatre)
  • Tectonics Adelaide - featuring The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and international musicians including Oren Ambarchi, Attila Csihar and Erkki Veltheim (March 9-10, Grainger Studio/Queen's Theatre)
  • Womadelaide - featuring UK singer-songwriter Billy Bragg and US hip-hop act Arrested Development (March 7-10, Botanic Park)
  • Continuum - featuring the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) (March 11, Adelaide Town Hall)
  • Zorn in Oz (US) - 6 concerts in 4 nights, featuring composer John Zorn's Australian debut (March 11-14, Festival Theatre)
  • Rime of the Ancient Mariner - The Tiger Lillies (UK) - Part concert and part film from Mark Holthusen (March 12-14, Her Majesty's Theatre)
  • Dirtsong - Black Arm Band (Australia) - featuring Paul Dempsey and indigenous artists including Tjupurru, Mindy Kwanten and Deline Briscoe (March 16, Festival Theatre)

4. DANCE Program

  • AM I - Sean Parker & Company (Australia) - directed and choreographed by Shaun Parker and composed by Nick Wales (February 27 to March 1, Dunstan Playhouse)
  • Blackout - Stone/Castro (Portugal/SA) - dance-theatre tale about wedding guests, survival and the end of the world (March 3-9, AC Arts Main Theatre)
  • Sadeh21 - Batsheva Dance Company (Israel) - choreographed by Ohad Naharin (March 5-8, Festival Theatre)

5. VISUAL ART Program

  • Four Rooms - featuring multimedia contemporary Aboriginal work about space and time, curated by Troy-Anthony Baylis (February 25 to April 6, Tandanya)
  • Worlds in Collision: Adelaide International 2014 - featuring 9 international artists with various subjects including psychology, psychedelics, politics and technology, curated by Richard Grayson (February 28 to March 16, Samstag Museum, CACSA, AEAF and SAGA Gallery)
  • 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Dark Heart - featuring photography, sculpture, painting, installation and the moving image from 25 Australian contemporary artists (March 1 to May 11, Art Gallery of SA)

6. FESTIVAL CLUB

  • Lola's Pergola - featuring the finest food, wine and beer from South Australia (Feb. 28 to March 15, Torrens Riverbank)

7. WRITERS' WEEK

  • Adelaide Writers' Week - featuring Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert (US), Wild Swans author Jung Chung (ChinaI/UK) and contemporary writer Margaret Drabble (UK) (March 1-6, Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden)
  • Artists' Week - Full program will be released in December 2013 (Feb. 28 to March 6, Various venues)
