Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster is known for being strictly private when it comes to her personal life. Recently, Jodie Foster indirectly mentioned for the first time in public that she is a lesbian during her acceptance speech after receiving the Cecil B DeMille award at the 2013 Golden Globes.

"A big coming out speech tonight. I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago in the Stone Age. If you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler, then maybe you too might value privacy above all else. Privacy," Foster stated.

In her speech, Jodie Foster thanked film producer and former partner, Cydney Bernard. The pair reportedly has two sons conceived through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). "My ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my most beloved BFF of 20 years, Cydney Bernard. I am so proud of our modern family," the 50-year-old actress declared.

Jodie Foster's age still appears to be young in receiving such prestigious award but she did not fail to point that out in her speech. "Trust me, 47 years in the film business is a long time. But tonight, I feel like the prom queen. Here's to the next 50 years," Foster finally said in her speech.

When asked back stage if she is worried about what people might think, Jodie Foster told reporters that she has no concerns since the speech came from her heart. "It stands for itself and it's an explanation of who I am and what I'm thinking and feeling," Foster explained.

According to Jodie Foster, this point of achievement in her acting career is like a graduation to her but clarified afterwards that she has no plans of retiring. "I could never retire from acting. You would have to drag me behind a team of horses. I'm not retiring from acting," Foster confirmed.
