A two-year-old boy was among two people who were killed in a shooting incident in Chicago, US, on Tuesday. A pregnant woman was wounded in the menacing incident.

The incident was captured on Facebook Live by the woman injured in the shooting. Lavontay White, his aunt and her boyfriend were travelling in a car when another car intercepted them. The perpetrator got out of his car and opened fire. Lavontay and her aunt’s boyfriend were shot in the head, according to the police.

The video begins with the woman sitting in the passenger seat of the car, which was being driven by the 26-year-old boyfriend. Levontay was in the backseat of the car.

The video captures the moment the shots rang. “I got a bullet in my stomach … they shot him, oh my God,” the woman can be heard screaming. “I can’t go to the hospital … this bullet in my stomach.”

As reported by the Chicago Tribune, the woman ran into a home in the 2300 block of South Kenneth Avenue. After gaining entry into the home, she asks her mother to help. She says she cannot go to the hospital because she could be sent to jail.

No one in connection with the shooting has been arrested. Investigators have gathered “very optimistic leads,” police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

“We have very promising leads, we have video,” Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said, speaking with. “There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll find him.” He added the boy was revived at the scene by the paramedics, but later died at the hospital. The aunt’s boyfriend, who was also killed, is believed to be the intended target of the attack.

Meanwhile, the woman and her baby have been listed to be in fair condition. According to the New York Post, the woman was four months pregnant.

The incident comes on the heels of a Saturday shooting where 11-year-old Takiya Holmes was struck with a stray bullet in the head. The girl, who died after sustaining wounds, was riding in her family’s minivan.

Twelve-year-old Kanari Gentry Bowers was shot in a separate shooting half hour before Takiya’s incident. Kanari was shot around six kilometres away. She is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

As noted by the Washington Post, poll statistics revealed as many as 762 homicides occurred in Chicago last year – a two-year high. This accounted for 4000 shooting victims.
