The exact killer specs and features packed by Samsung with the Galaxy Note 5 may not be known until the device’s actual release date later this 2015. But thanks to the Galaxy S6 Edge, the phablet flagship is virtually assured of showcasing top-notch camera and a much-improved dual-edge display panel.

As in the previous years, the Note phablet series improves on the Samsung Galaxy flagship and it is expected that the Note 5 will take on the same route. The device’s specs and features will surely overwhelm those that were seen on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Specifically, Samsung is predicted to mould its 2015 hybrid phone after the S6 Edge. After all, reports say that the S6 Edge is proving the hotter device compared to the regular S6 and Samsung would be wise to ride and sustain on this momentum. These two S6 Edge killer features, their improved renditions, should find their way on the Galaxy Note 5:

Camera system that defeats the iPhone 6 Plus

Many Apple fans favoured the iPhone 6 Plus over the iPhone 6 not because the former boasts of a larger and wider screen. The Apple phablet’s camera is to die for and reviewers adjudged the 6 Plus as the best smartphone camera around despite having only an 8MP rear shooter. The whole package makes the supersized iOS phone a winner in every camera shootout it has engaged with.

But with the arrival of the S6 and S6 Edge, the 6 Plus found a worthy competition. In fact, in a recent review published by DxOMark.com the Apple phablet was rousingly humbled. The three-way camera showdown involving the 6 Plus, the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge showed that Samsung’s 2015 hero phones bested the Apple flagship in these still photo categories: colour accuracy, autofocus, texture and noise reduction.

The only area that the 6 Plus had flexed its muscle is in capturing video clips. Against the S6 Edge, the larger iPhone 6 generated moving images with better colour accuracy, DxOMark said on its review.

Now Samsung will certainly capitalise on the result of this iPhone-Galaxy dogfight and make sure that its upcoming flagship will again edge out the competition. Obviously, the Note 5 will first reflect this camera step up.

Near-perfect Edge screen

It is no-brainer that the Note 5 form-factor will be greatly influenced by the S6 Edge success. So either the Samsung phablet will have an edgy twin or the build itself will be patterned after the dual-edge render that turned out a surprise success for the South Korean tech giant.

Samsung has already declared that flexible AMOLED panel will be standard on its flagships – existing and upcoming. Along that line, the company is working hard to improve the dual-edge production process that will increase the target yield exponentially, leading to a high of 70 per cent jump, according to ETNews.com.

Also, Samsung’s new edge panel production technique will reduce errors, specifically of the micro wrinkles on the bended sector of the display panel, and lower manufacturing costs, G4Games said in a separate report. The immediate of this to the Note 5 are close-to-perfect dual edge screen, steady supply stream and a likely cheaper price tag (or at least no price increase).

To date, Samsung has yet to reveal its release date plans and other details about the Galaxy Note 5. The phablet, however, is expected to get a preview via the 2015 IFA gadget trade show in Berlin on early September with the actual availability to follow in October.
