Two senior students have been suspended from Brighton Grammar School after it emerged that they posted pictures of young girls on Instagram and encouraged followers to vote on the “slut of the year.” It was understood that their parents have withdrawn them from the Victoria elite school.

According to Fairfax Media, several senior boys have created the Instagram account “ys_academy_puspus” to feature unsuspecting girls in various clothing, some were wearing their school uniforms, while others were wearing more provocative attire. There were girls included who were said to be as young as 11 years old.

One photo allegedly showed a girl wearing bikini bottoms and a singlet top, and which included a caption that described the sex acts she would perform on boys.

A mother who discovered that her daughter was featured on the Instagram page wrote on a public Facebook post to inform readers of the page.

“I am writing this as a mother of a girl that has not only been sexualised but violated within our small community,” she wrote. “I will not rest until the consequence for the crime meets the severity of the crime itself – for my daughter and all other young unsuspecting girls.”

The note has been shared hundreds of times before she made the post private on Sunday. The mother told The Age that she received a threatening phone call from another parent on Sunday night. The caller said the Instagram account “was a group of boys having fun.”

The school was made aware of the Year 11 boys’ action over the weekend and promptly suspended two students on Monday. According to recent reports, the suspended boys’ parents have withdrawn them from the school a few days after.

Headmaster Ross Featherston said the school is taking the matter very seriously. “The Instagram post is disgraceful and does not reflect the values of BGS,” he said in a statement. “Disrespectful behaviour on any social media is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

BGS said the investigation is ongoing. Victoria Police also said they are investigating.
