Do you want to keep your brain in tip-top condition? Our brain functions start to sow down with old age but that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it. On the contrary, you can easily boost brain power in easy and very simple ways. Here’s how.

  1. Read. Make it a habit to read the daily papers, magazines or just about anything you can get your hands on. Reading exercises your mind and even keeps you updated on the latest happenings around the world.
  2. Test. Thanks to the internet you can now easily access online tests designed to keep your brain sharp. IQ and personality tests can be easily accessed and they’re free of charge too.
  3. Play. How about playing some online games? They are also free and depending on your preference, there are a lot of them to choose from.
  4. Game. Time to turn on that TV and watch game shows where players earn money. These shows usually pop trivia questions which you at home can also answer but of course, you’re only in it for fun.
  5. Write. A great way to exercise your brain and make sure it’s functioning well is by writing. One is never too old to have a diary or journal. Go virtual by having your own blog or by updating your social media accounts regularly.
  6. Listen. Even doing simple things like listening to music can greatly improve your brain power. That’s because we tend to understand, recall, and give meaning to the lyrics of songs we listen to.
  7. Exercise. Get that body moving. Doing simple exercises like brisk walking or swimming can help prevent clogging of blood vessels that send nutrients to your brain.
  8. Teach. An effective brain booster is teaching. Imparting your knowledge by training a fellow employee or by simply helping your child with assignments can already make those brain cells alert.
  9. Rest. It’s imperative you get enough rest and sleep. It is preferred especially among adults to sleep at least seven to eight hours a day. This is one way to eliminate stressors too which can greatly affect brain functions.
  10. Eat. Ensure your brain is always at its best condition by including fruits and vegetables rich in nutrients that improve brain power. Broccoli, cauliflower, and blueberries are just some of the foods to include in your diet.
